Andrea received her B.A. in Liberal Studies, with Math as an area of concentration, from California State Dominguez Hills. After receiving her degree, she continued her studies and received her Multiple Subject Teaching credential in 2019. During her student teaching, she was inspired by connections she made with the students, which has helped develop her asset-based mindset in the classroom. She is also grateful for her mentors for helping her develop a culturally responsive pedagogy. This year, she received her Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction. Her training includes incorporating UDL/SDAIE strategies, restorative justice practices, differentiation, and technology-based learning in her instruction. She is currently working as a K-12 substitute teacher for multiple school districts and enjoys implementing lessons and working with different students. Andrea also has more than 10 years of experience as an instructional assistant for the special education department and has collaborated with different teachers and parents to meet the needs of the students. Andrea is very excited to motivate students and to help them develop a growth mindset, which will help them overcome challenges in all aspects of life.

Although she always had a curiosity and love for learning, she struggled with getting good grades in middle and high school because of ADHD.
