Alicia earned her Masters degree in Education from the University of Southern California. She has many years of combined experience in college admission, educational program administration, and student advising. She also has over 9 years of experience tutoring students in reading (trained in Orton Gillingham Methodology), writing (mechanics, general assignments, and college admission essays), and math. Alicia has the knowledge, preparation, and dedication necessary to help your child become academically successful.
Amanda graduated from the University of Arizona but has lived in the South Bay for many years. She has 16 years of tutoring experience and has 6+ years of experience with students with special needs, developmental delays. She also specializes in reading instruction and has materials that keep the student engaged while having fun learning. She speaks conversational Spanish and has also has her own hair salon. Amanda is very patient, friendly and can develop a strong connection with children as she deeply cares about her craft. She makes sure to individualize lessons and enjoys working with young children as she finds it very rewarding to see them learn and progress.
Angela has 25 + years experience teaching middle school and high school students and staff exploring human potential. Angela received her Ph.D. in Transformative Learning from Union Institute in 2006. Dr. Benedetto recently taught Educational Psychology at UCLA, and Developmental Psychology at Antioch University. Her doctoral internship included field research in India, Peru and the US. Her latest creative works include; the Student Success Kit for Teens, The Stress Reduction Handbook for Teachers, and multi media text and film Dreaming New Schools; Inspiring Lifelong Learning Through Conscious Creativity and Catapulting Creativity: A Teacher’s Journey through Conscious Creativity. Angela looks forward to offering workshops and staff development training supporting youth and adults in celebrating their unique creativity.
Angela has over 14 years of teaching experience at the preschool, elementary, and middle school levels. She has a strong knowledge in all subject areas especially in Common Core reading comprehension, writing, and math skills. She earned her Bachelor of Art’s degree in Early Childhood Development from California State University, Long Beach as well as a Master of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education. She also has a multiple subject teaching credential and is currently working towards her special education credential. Angela has excellent communication skills and a good rapport with parents and students. Angela has worked with students that have IEP’s and specializes in designing an individualized curriculum that fits each student’s needs. Angela strives to help students strengthen their talents and abilities through a variety of teaching methods. She has extensive technology skills and her passion is to instill a love of learning for each student. Building confidence is her number one goal so students can take ownership of their own learning.
Angie has been peer assisting and tutoring for her entire educational career. She has a Single Subject Math teaching credential. Angie’s educational experiences include Marlborough School for Girls in Hancock Park, Loyola University, New Orleans ( B.S. Mathematics), Cal State Bakersfield (B.S. Sociology/Math Minor), and currently Mount St. Mary’s University (in progress, M.S. Education). Angie’s philosophy is “just because you do not like it, does not mean you do not need to know or understand it”. She makes every effort to help student/tutee understand what they feel is impossible. Angie also specializes in SAT/ACT prep. She looks forward to helping students shift their mindsets from “can’t and frustration” to “can and encouraged”.
Ashley received her Bachelors Degree from UCLA in Linguistics. She has experience working with children of all abilities, and specializes in Algebra, Geometry, English, Spanish, and French. She has tutored all levels of math including elementary, middle and high school in the South Bay. She enjoys working with the youth and mentoring them on the way to academic success. She is currently pursuing a Masters in Speech-Language Pathology.
Brian has his BA in Engineering from CSULB. He specializes in all levels of math and science tutoring but can also tutor in other subjects including helping high school students with study skills. He has worked as an engineer and also tutors in his free time. He went to Mira Costa High School and can tutor AP level classes.
Caragh has a Masters in Bilingual Education from USC and a BS in Spanish Language from UCLA. She has been a substitute teacher for the past 2 years in K through 12 classrooms. In addition, she has taught in elementary schools for 4 years in LAUSD and Long Beach Unified Schools. Having children herself, she knows patience and humor go a long way. She has also studied abroad in Spain, Costa Rica and Mexico in order to broaden her understanding of different cultures and the love of languages. She continues to take classes to further her education. Caragh also can administer a full reading assessment battery if your child struggles with reading at the elementary school level. She is also trained in the Barton Method which helps students with dyslexia read.
Corinne is a full time aerospace engineer and has worked as a full time math and science tutor for an intensive program tutoring 12 hours a day. She recently moved to South Bay after earning her B.S. in Aero/Astronautical Engineering from MIT and her M.S. in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Colorado. She is passionate about inspiring students to love math and science.
Debbie is a native of the South Bay area and a graduate of West High School (Go Warriors!) She is a full-time credentialed special education teacher for LAUSD. She has worked with students of all ability levels. She is familiar with IEPs and helping students meet their goals and creating specific learning goals for students of all ability levels. Debbie earned her Bachelor’s Degree from California State University, Fullerton and an Education Specialist Credential at Antioch University. Currently, she is finishing her MS in Educational Technology at CSUF. She believes in a creative student-centered approach to learning and teaching her students to develop a positive growth-mindset.

Business , single subject credential and Masters In Education ),He received passing scores on the CSET in math to earn his credential . Derrick’s philosophy is “math is like a sport , if enough effort is put in you can achieve your goals”. He makes every effort to help student/tutee understand what they feel is impossible. Derrick specializes in AP statistics as well as other core math subjects . He looks forward to training young minds and getting rid of math anxiety. Derrick teaches AVID( Advancement Via Individual Determination ) and is also the coordinator of the program. He specializes in organizational skills and anything that has to do with college and career readiness.
Dianica is currently an Electrical Engineering student at California State University, Long Beach. Although she has been living in the South Bay for over 10 years, she studied in Mexico for 15 years and gained experience in speaking and writing Spanish. She has some experience tutoring Spanish, English and Math. She enjoys meeting and connecting with new people, and she’s passionate about inspiring others to pursue their educational dreams and achieve their academic goals.
Emily is a full time credentialed 2nd grade teacher. She also taught in after-school program for the Wiseburn District. She has experience with RTI (response to intervention) and reading tutoring. She also has her MA from De Paul University in Chicago. Emily is passionate about teaching and inspiring a love of learning in her students. She is very patient and structured yet creates engaging lessons.
Erika understands what it is like to struggle with math and science. She also has experience building herself as a student to excel in these subjects during her college education. Needless to say, she is the ideal tutor for your child as she will understand the struggles students encounter with STEM topics, how they can overcome them, and how they too can gain the confidence to become independent learners. Erika has tutored privately and been a supplemental math coach for El Camino College. She graduated Fall 2016 with a BS in Biology with a minor in Chemistry – Earning the titles Cum Laude and Departmental Honors. She was also recognized as a MSTI Scholars graduate for her work with middle and high school students in Watts and Inglewood. She plans to become a math or Chemistry teacher in the future and plans on working on her credential.
Eun earned her Bachelors degree at USC with major in Classics and minor in Natural Sciences. She has experience teaching students in elementary and middle school. She can tutor all levels of math and sciences, and other subjects including Latin. She speaks fluent Korean, and has experience tutoring students whose second language is English. She is passionate about helping students to learn and succeed.
After graduating from Loyola Marymount University with a business degree emphasizing Information Systems, Fernando worked as a Technical Support member for an aerospace company for two years. While it was financially rewarding, this career did not fulfill his professional expectations. Greatly influenced by my mother, who was a distinguished teacher and principal, he chose to pursue a new career in education. Since then he has enjoyed 14+ years of teaching; primarily in the 3rd and 5th grades, as well as a middle school, Math and Science teacher. He also served as an Assistant Principal at an elementary school for one year. He is an educator because he truly enjoy sharing in the achievements and challenges of school children. He dedicates himself to helping all students grow academically, socially and emotionally. As a teacher, he leads his students through rigorous and meaningful instructional lessons. His expectation is to instill in them “habits of mind” that inspire learning, and also develop responsible character.
Fizza is currently working towards completing her Bachelors in Liberal Studies with an emphasis in Mathematics at California State University, Long Beach and will eventually go for a Masters in Applied Mathematics so that she can teach at the Community College level. She has tutored small study groups and created her own math lessons for students at El Camino College as well as has knowledge of Common Core Curriculum. She has a deep passion for helping students and will not hesitate to help a child learn new material, concepts, and study habits. She believes that everyone has their own pace and style of learning and is willing to cater to whichever method to help the child learn. With over 5 years of experience tutoring/coaching students in various subjects, her motto is “Whatever challenge you face, WE face together so let’s turn that frown upside down!”
Fran has her BA in Elementary Education from Queens College in New York City. She has been an Instructional Aide in the Learning Center at elementary schools in the Manhattan Beach Unified School District for more than 2 years and enjoys working with K-5 students in all subjects and watching the students grasp concepts. She helps build students’ confidence to believe in themselves and grow into independent thinkers. Working with her own children and volunteering in numerous classrooms, science labs, and libraries helped prepare her for working in the school district.
Garrett is a native of the South Bay area. He graduated with highest honors from Palos Verdes High School with a 4.7 GPA and was recognized as an AP Scholar with Distinction.Garrett is currently working towards completing his Bachelors of Arts degree in Business Communications online at Arizona State University, with the goal of working in finance. While in high school and thereafter, Garrett successfully tutored middle school and high school students in fundamentals through pre-calculus mathematics. Scoring a near perfect score on the SAT Math, he is well versed in successful test taking skills and can readily help students achieve maximum results with targeted test preparation. He enjoys working with students of all ages and is eager to help them overcome their fear of new material and build confidence. He believes that each student is unique and should work at his or her own pace and learn in the manner that best suits them. Nothing makes him happier than when a student does well on an exam after having previously struggled with a topic.
Jamecelle has her Master’s Degree and teaching credential in Special Education from Loyola Marymount University. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science with a minor in Education from UCLA. She has worked as a teacher’s assistant, college advisor, and tutor. In addition, Jamecelle has gained experience with elementary, middle, and high school students in general education and special education settings, at-risk youth, incarcerated youth, and English Language Learners. Her primary focus is on tailoring her tutoring to address the student’s needs. She is currently an ED/Special Education Teacher for 3rd-5th grade and earned LAUSD Rookie of the Year Teacher award for 2015-2016.
Janice holds a BA in History from the University Of California, Los Angeles and has over 5 years experience tutoring elementary and middle school students in all subjects and high school students in literature, writing, and history. She specializes in the development of strong language arts skills, ranging from phonemic awareness and fluency to comprehension and writing expression. Additionally, she assists with elementary common core math and test prep for the ISEE, SSAT, and OLSAT. For the past three years, along with tutoring, she has worked for the Hermosa Beach City School District in both resource and general ed classrooms as an instructional aide for children with special needs. Her years of exposure to differentiated instruction equip her with the tools necessary to customize lessons to the individual needs of each student. Possessing a lively personality and a playful sense of humor, she delivers engaging lesson plans within a warm and encouraging learning environment.
Jeff earned his Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from UC Riverside. He has been an SI Coach for Intermediate Algebra at El Camino as well as working as a math tutor at the Math Study Center at El Camino College and for Varsity Tutors. He is also a student at El Camino College making preparations for a Master’s Degree in Computer Science. He has lived in South Bay his whole life and his favorite subject is Multi-Variable Calculus. Jeff is proficient in Java and C++ and can tutor AP Computer Science.
Jennifer graduated in Germany with a Bachelors degree before she decided to relocate to the U.S- in 2015 for her Study Program at the University of California, Irvine. She has plenty of experiences with children through several jobs as nanny, where she was taught German to students ages 1-9. She is currently living in Redondo Beach and is excited and motivated to help others improve their German skills.
Jermaine attends Western Governors’ University and is currently working toward his master’s degree in mathematics. During his 18 year career with the Los Angeles Unified School District Jermaine has tutored in various levels of math from Algebra to Calculus and assist many students with CBEST, CSET, and NCLEX exams. Jermaine’s areas of strengths are Algebra I and II, Geometry, Trigonometry, Calculus, Chemistry I and II. He is motivated by playing a part in helping others achieve their ambitions.
Jill has her BA in Chemistry from the University of Arkansas. She specializes in math and science, including Algebra, Geometry, Biology, and Chemistry. While these are her main areas, she can also assist students with Language Arts and creating better study skills. Jill has 3 years of experience working with Common Core curriculum in the public schools as an educational assistant in Maryland. She has worked with middle school special education students to create alternative approaches to lessons as well as supplementing classroom instruction in order to gain a better understanding of the materials. She has also provided individual and group tutoring for a wide range of ages. Her belief is in creating a positive atmosphere where students of all ages can feel comfortable and soar to reach their maximum potential.
Jule has her BFA from Texas Christian University where she graduated from the John V. Roach Honors College. She has taught both middle school and high school Theatre and has been a study tutor for three years. Jule specializes in teaching students effective study habits while tutoring English, Social Studies and other liberal arts. She believes in creating a fun, stress-free environment where students can thrive and learn the skills they need to succeed.
Karina earned her Bachelors degree in Statistics from UCLA. She specializes in all levels of math, Spanish, SAT prep, and essay writing. She has experience in tutoring students from elementary to high school. Karina plans on pursuing her master’s degree in Education to become a High School math teacher, as she is passionate about education and sharing her love of math. She is committed to making the learning process as enjoyable as it should be.
Kaylan has a B.A .in Psychology with a minor in Sociology from Howard University and a M.A. in Marriage and Family Therapy. While in undergrad she volunteered for a non profit organization that provided low socioeconomic communities with tutoring and mentoring services. She has tutored privately for about 9 years and specializes in math,reading, and writing for elementary and middle school students. Kaylan currently works at a middle school as an instructional assistant, helping students with special needs. Kaylan truly has a passion for helping students, and making what they learn in the classroom much simpler.
Kristen graduated from California State University Dominguez Hills with honors. She has a BA in liberal studies and holds a multiple subjects credential. Kristen has been teaching children for over 20 years, and has tutored for over 4 years. She first taught dance and theater, then moved on to elementary school. She enjoys working with young children and understands their thought processes. Her specialty is identifying children’s learning modality and guiding them through their own personalized cognitive process. She is enthusiastic and animated and has a true love of learning. Kristen is an expert at creating study guides, and will help your child reach his/her highest potential.
Kyler graduated from El Segundo High School. He was honored by the recognition of an engineering sash for robotics and engineering. Currently, he is a full time time college student working towards a mechanical engineering degree. Additionally, he teaches for an after-school program focusing on engineering for kids. Kyler specializes in all levels of math tutoring. He scored a 5 on the AP calculus test and had extensive experience with advanced robotics while in high school. Kyler is very passionate about teaching and inspiring young people in the field of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics). In addition, he is extremely patient with all types of students and excited to help them strengthen their knowledge and problem solving skills.
Liliana lived in the Los Angeles area her whole life. After graduating from El Camino College with an Associates Degree in Business Administration, she is currently attending the University of Southern California in order to obtain her Bachelors degree in International Relations with an emphasis in Global Finance. She works for El Camino College as a Supplemental Instruction Coach for the Mathematics Department and has been doing so since Fall 2014. She is also fluent in Spanish and took 4 years of French in High School and have passed the AP placement test. She tutors all levels of Math through Algebra 2 as well as all levels of Spanish. Liliana enjoys helping students unlock their potential not only in the classroom but also in their daily lives. She hopes to inspire her students in the future by becoming a math teacher.
Madi is a native of Jackson Hole, Wyoming and a graduate of Scripps College at the Claremont Colleges, with a BA in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics. Madi worked as an elementary interventionist and private tutor for two years and in 2016, received masters-level training at the University of Washington’s Teacher Education Program. She specializes in phonics and literacy instruction and coaching for elementary readers, and uses ongoing and diagnostic assessments to design and implement differentiated, highly individualized instruction. She brings a rich collection of resources to her tutoring work, including the DIBELS and QSR diagnostic assessments, the Project Read and Explode the Code literacy instruction curriculums, level-specific texts, and a variety of interactive games. In addition, Madi is an accomplished editor, and enjoys supporting students of any age who hope to improve their essay-writing skills, particularly for students preparing for AP tests, the ACT, SAT, GED, or college admission essays.
Matthew is a graduate from Cal State University of Monterey Bay and has Bachelor’s degree with a focus in teaching. For the last few years, he has worked as both a teacher’s assistant and a tutor for multiple schools, each with a different economic background. He has a great reputation when it comes to working and helping students, especially ones who have a hard time studying. He is passionate about working with elementary and middle school students and helping them grasp a better understanding of mathematics.
Michael graduated from Vistamar High School and recently graduated from Humboldt State University this past December. He majored in English Writing Practices with minors in psychology and music. Michael specializes in teaching college-aged students but is more than capable of teaching students of all ages and of all reading/writing abilities. Michael spent a semester as a teaching intern for a core course that every English Major must take to graduate from HSU. The course he interned for was titled Literature, Identity, and Representation and dealt with argumentative essays, reflective essays, creative writing, and reading comprehension assignments. Michael also enrolled in an extra course at HSU to become eligible as a tutor on campus to help students from all backgrounds, not just English, to improve their writing in their respective fields. It is Michael’s belief that realizing one’s highest potential in writing and reading should be a stimulating and rewarding experience for his students and not simply a tedious, daunting task made necessary by the demands of academia. Michael has a calm but engaging approach to his teaching and believes the key to unlocking one’s success as a reader or a writer is to find a passion for reading and writing.
Michael has his BA in English from UCLA. He has been teaching and mentoring junior high and high school students as his local church for many years. He also has experience teaching developmentally disabled adults through the California Abilities Network or ICAN. He loves helping students achieve their academic goals as well as their personal life goals. His classroom environment is all about encouragement and committing to never give up. The problems in life are innumerable, but with training and a proper mindset, no issue is too big. He specializes in tutoring in English/Writing but also tutors K-8th all subjects.
Mike received his Master of Education degree from UCLA. His thesis focused on developing positive mathematic identities within learners. He also earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from California State University, Northridge in history. He has been a credentialed teacher since 2002, working in both the public school and non-profit sector. Mike specializes in math and English instruction. When working with students, he creates a unique academic plan based on the learner’s strengths. The goal of the plan is to allow individuals to achieve their educational goals.
Nancy lives in the South Bay and graduated with a B.A. in Sociology from Loyola Marymount University. Nancy also received a Masters in Counseling with a Pupil Personnel Service Credential from Loyola Marymount University. Nancy interned for Lawndale School District as a School Counselor, where she helped students improve their academic and social skills. Nancy enjoys tutoring elementary age children, specifically helping students develop their reading and math skills. Nancy has worked in various school settings as a teachers aide and as an intervention tutor. Nancy is working towards getting her LPCC (Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor) and plans to one day have her own practice.
Nicole is a graduate of Northern Kentucky University, where she earned her undergraduate and Master’s degree in elementary education, with a focus on reading and writing. She has had 6 years of teaching experience with 2nd-4th grades, and has been tutoring for the past 3 years, in grades ranging from 1st through 8th grade in language arts and math. She’s been hired by the Redondo Beach Unified school district as a substitute teacher. She has lived in the South Bay for three and a half years, and now calls California home. She is passionate about helping students succeed and inspiring in them a love for life-long learning.
Olivia graduated from the University of Maryland with her Bachelor of Arts degree. Currently, she is a full-time elementary school special education teacher, with students in third, fourth, and fifth grade. Olivia also has experience as a substitute teacher with middle school and high school students. Olivia focuses on assisting students with finding and using resources to solve problems. She is extremely patient and friendly, and has materials to assist all different kinds of learners with excelling to their fullest potential.
Oxana has 11 years of experience tutoring and teaching high school Chemistry. She holds a Master’s degree in Chemistry from USC. Having teaching experience with students with varying learning styles and various cognitive abilities, she developed strong professional judgement in addressing their unique needs. After just a few sessions students have been shown to significantly improve their understanding and comprehension of the class material.
Paulo received his BS in Mechanical Engineering from UCSD. He has previously worked in the aerospace industry and is now perusing his dream of inspiring youth as a full-time math teacher. He specializes in all levels of science, math, and can tutor in Spanish.
Pedro graduated from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona with a BS. in Electrical Engineering. Pedro didn’t always want to be an engineering student. When he graduated high school he attended El Camino College and had dreams to become a firefighter. He volunteered at the Compton Fire Department and performed the duties of a probationary firefighter that included performing basic life support to patients, putting out fires under the supervision of professional firefighters and numerous hours of physical training. While at the fire department he began tutoring Algebra to firefighters and other explorers. Eventually, he switched majors to Electrical Engineering and became a private math tutor. He has over 6 years of experience with tutoring the following subjects: Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus and Calculus 1.
