Surviving Summer School
Summer school may be required if your child/teen did not pass all of his class during the school year, but it can also be a choice for students who want to get ahead.??
Many studies show that students loose one month of learning by the time they head back to school in the fall. If your child already struggled during the school year and you do not want to enroll your child in summer school, summer tutoring can be a great alternative. Tutors will work with your schedule and tutor in the comfort of your own home. The content will be geared specifically to your child’s areas of strengths and weaknesses and the tutor can serve as a motivational mentor if your child resents having to do work in the summer.?
Summer tutoring is also a great option for students with special needs to help them retain what they learned during the school year and practice basic skills in math, reading and writing. Summer tutoring can be a lot more flexible than school year tutoring and you do not need to sign up for sessions on a weekly basis.?
It is best to choose a location in the home that has the fewest distractions and set up s schedule for when the student will complete homework given by the tutor. Tutoring does not have to take the place of summer school. Tutors can help students study for tests and help with writing assignments during summer school.?
With a positive attitude and the right tutor, summer tutoring can help your child start the school year off great!
