Although all students learn differently, final exams should not be taken lightly and it is best to start preparing a couple of weeks in advance. You have worked hard all semester and finals give you the chance to see the material you have mastered. High School finals are great practice for college where your finals may be one of the few grades you receive in the class. Hope these tips will help you!

- Choose a quiet, distraction free, comfortable study area with good lighting.
- Turn your notes into flashcards. By rewriting your notes you imprint the information in your brain as well as create a study tool you can use to quiz yourself. Highlight the most important on your cards.
- Get enough sleep and keep some healthy snacks close by.
- Make a specific finals study plan calendar, in which you schedule study time for each subject, placing your hardest subjects at your most alert time. This will vary by the student as some students study best in the morning while other study better at night.
- Take a 15 minute study break after every hour of study time in order to maintain focused during study time.
- Create your own test using your notes or study guides and exchange it with a friend. Take each others? tests.
- Think about how you study best: alone or in groups. Some people study better in groups while others get distracted in groups. If you join a study group, set guidelines and goals so the sessions are most productive.
- Stay organized by keeping your notes, quizzes, and homework in for each subject in separate binders so you have all your study materials ready.
