After graduating from Loyola Marymount University with a business degree emphasizing Information Systems, Fernando worked as a Technical Support member for an aerospace company for two years. While it was financially rewarding, this career did not fulfill his professional expectations. Greatly influenced by my mother, who was a distinguished teacher and principal, he chose to pursue a new career in education. Since then he has enjoyed 14+ years of teaching; primarily in the 3rd and 5th grades, as well as a middle school, Math and Science teacher. He also served as an Assistant Principal at an elementary school for one year. He is an educator because he truly enjoy sharing in the achievements and challenges of school children. He dedicates himself to helping all students grow academically, socially and emotionally. As a teacher, he leads his students through rigorous and meaningful instructional lessons. His expectation is to instill in them “habits of mind” that inspire learning, and also develop responsible character.
